L.I. United To Transform Policing & Community Safety Presentation -
Emily Kaufman & Terryl Dozier
The People’s Plan is a set of public safety recommendations developed by three community-led coalitions (LI United to Transform Policing and Community Safety, LI Advocates for Police Accountability, and United for Justice in Policing LI) with the input of hundreds of Long Islanders. This comprehensive plan presents 12 proposals for structural reform to Reimagine Policing and Public Safety to ensure that LI is safe for ALL Long Islanders.
Cynthya BrianKate - LGBTQIA+
Cynthia has direct life experience in what it's like to be a Transgender woman (and what it's like to be a Transgender woman Green in the current GP environments), Intersex (biologically between male and female), a Chimera (people born with a composite body as result of siblings merging in the womb), and what it's like to be on both the Bisexual and Asexual spectrums/spectra.
Cynthya helped found the Long Island Transgender Day Of Remembrance (TDOR) and is a board member of both Intersex Campaign for Equality (IC4E) and Intersex, Friends and Families (IFF). She has spoken on and helped organize over a thousand panels, workshops, lectures, rallies, marches and protests.
Rachel Silang - ANSWER Coalition & Anti-War Activist
Rachelis a southeast Asian-American leading member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. She spoke with the Green Party of Nassau County on Monday, December 16, 2019, about the current political situation in Venezuela and other South American countries. Rachel has been organizing protests against U.S. intervention, war, racism, LGBTQ bigotry, and for women's rights for the past 6 years.
Stephen Figurasmith- PANIC
Nassau County Correctional Center is a human rights catastrophe. This presentation shows the history of failed attempts to reform the jail. They will speak about Prison Abolitionists of Nassau Inciting Change's (PANIC) mission and goals, why the organization advocates for abolition rather than reform of the Prison-Industrial Complex, and how Green Party members can get involved.
Tina Minkowitz is a lawyer and a survivor of forced psychiatric interventions. She contributed to the drafting of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which sets a new standard in international law that requires the abolition of any forced or non-consensual interventions in mental health settings. She is the founder & current president of the Center for the Human Rights of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry, an organization that advocates and conducts capacity-building activities at national and international levels to promote abolition, collaborates with partners throughout the world in these activities, and contributes to the ongoing development of this standard by the UN.

Peter Dolack - Socialism
Dr. Jase Bernhardt - Contrails and their effect on weather and climate. Dr. Bernhardt is an Assistant Professor in Hofstra University's Department of Geology, Environment, and Sustainability. Courses he teaches include climatology, meteorology and sustainability. He also manages the network of three on-campus weather stations.
Dr. Bernhardt wrote his master's thesis on the subject of contrails, specifically a paper entitled “A Synoptic Climatology of Contrail Outbreaks and Associated Surface Temperature Impacts for Two Sub-Regions of the Continental United States.”
Heather Cottin - How To Work For Peace
Heather Cottin has lived on Long Island for most of her life. She was an organizer of the Vietnam anti-war movement on Long Island, the Women's Liberation Movement here, the movement in solidarity with the people of Central America, as well as the immigrant rights movement. She was a bus organizer for Long Island for the Washington marches against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. She was a high school teacher in the Copiague and Plainview-Old Bethpage districts, and currently teaches history at LaGuardia Community College.

Dr. Bennington is Professor of Geology and Chair of the Department of Geology, Environment, and Sustainability at Hofstra University, where he has been teaching since 1993. He has a B.S. degree in biology and geology from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D. in geology from Virginia Tech.
